Step inside Ben Klock’s Photon audiovisual concept show: Watch

Filed by Donte DishnerDonte Dishner

Ben Klock has shared some insight into the philosophy of his Photon audiovisual concept party.

In a new video interview, the Klockworks boss and Berghain resident discusses the inspiration for the party which took London’s incredible Printworks venue by storm last April with its blending of a stunning, intricate light show and sets from Marcel Dettmann, Planetary Assault Systems (live), Ben Sims, Dax J, Etapp Kyle and Klock himself.

“Photon is about the experience of light, architecture and music in way,” he says. “We only do it in special locations like warehouses which have a nice look where you can really do something with lights. This experience almost like a light installation but the vibe of a techno party.”

The video, which was shared via Electronic Beats, features a performance dance piece making use of light as well as short shots from Ben Klock’s Photon set at Amsterdam’s Awakenings festival last year.

Klock discusses the collaboration with a light operator who he had regularly worked with in Berghain and how the concept developed from a “less is more” approach. He also emphasises the importance of artists branching out and trying new things and concepts in their field.

Last week, Klock was locked to play a B2B set with Marcel Dettmann at Tomorrowland 2018.
