Above & Beyond Made 30 Tracks While Writing Common Ground

The day we have all been anticipating for well over a year is finally here. Above & Beyond‘s fourth studio album, “”, has ficially been released on the trio’s own Anjunabeats label.

The English trance group comprised Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki is known for producing music that brings people together. Their music brings fans to tears, and you can ten see attendees their live shows hugging, laughing, and crying, all at the same time.

McGuinness says that “Common Ground”much like their previous albums, “Group Therapy and “We Are All We Need“, features songs written about life. Their songs aren’t necessarily the typical party music associated with the electronic dance genre, and that is why we love them.

Listening to this album all the way through gave us all the “feels” for nearly a full hour. It features 8 brand new tracks and 5 previously released singles. And if that wasn’t enough, on #ASOT850 yesterday, Jono Grant revealed that A&B actually made 30 additional songs in the process creating “Common Ground”.

Grant even added, “We got quite a bit to release still”. Best news ever! In addition to the beautiful album that is “Common Ground”, fans can look forward to hearing even more music in the (hopefully) near future.

Above & Beyond will also premiere their documentary, “Above & Beyond Acoustic: Giving Up The Day Job” in New York City on January 30th at Chelsea Cinepolis with a Q&A following the screening. The film follows their 2016 tour for “Acoustic II“, which is the second acoustic album released by the group.

We can’t wait to hear all their tracks live on the “Common Ground” tour. While the tour kicked f on December 29th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the first full leg began yesterday in Philadelphia.

If you haven’t heard the album in its entirety, what are you waiting for? Give it a listen and soak up all the feels!

Claude VonStroke Drops A Wild Music Video For His New Single

It is rare that we get music videos in the dance world, aside from big names that have massive budgets. Well today, fans get a real treat. Dirtybird head honco Claude VonStroke just released the eccentric music video for his new single featuring Bruno FurlanThe Book Is On The Table‘. The funky house track is on the Dirtybird Campout  that recently released in anticipation the label’s upcoming in a couple short weeks. The music video is a simple yet wild visual journey that takes you through what I can only assume is VonStroke’s backyard, flashing a light on some seriously vivacious characters.

It all begins with a wizard who has to pee really bad. While he sneaks f to take a leak, the wizard leaves his book spells on a table with a seemingly drunk guy who then unlocks its power and attracts whimsical characters who react with every weird bone in their body. Camp councilors sporting the colors and attire from Dirtybird Campout dance, jump, and laugh amongst crazy grannies, mascots, and everything inbetween. The wizard doesnt notice any this chaos going on behind him until he finally finishes his business.

Don’t believe me? Watch and see for yourself. ‘The Book is on the Table’ music video is out now.

Scientists have sent a giant disco ball into space

Filed by Antonio AlbertyAntonio Alberty

Scientists have sent a giant disco ball into space so large that it will be visible to the naked eye from all inhabited parts of Earth.

The massive reflective sphere is the creation of American start-up firm Rocket Lab and has been named the Humanity Star. It took flight 21st January from Mahia, New Zealand, where the team has developed the world’s first private orbital launch range.

The ‘disco ball’ is a one-meter-tall carbon-fiber geodesic sphere made up of 65 highly-reflective panels. In space, it will spin, reflecting sun’s light back to earth creating a flashing effect in the sky.

Orbiting Earth every 90 minutes, the sphere will be most visible in the United States during the twilight hours starting in late-February and March.

“No matter where you are in the world, or what is happening in your life, everyone will be able to see the Humanity Star in the night sky,” Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck said in a statement. “For us to thrive and survive, we need to make big decisions in the context of humanity as a whole, not in the context of individuals, organizations or even nations. …We must come together as a species to solve the really big issues like climate change and resource shortages.”

Humanity Star is anticipated to circle the globe for 9 months. Track the orbit here.

The massive reflecting orb follows music shot into space by Sónar Festival.

More than a novelty concept, Rocket Lab is working to remove barriers to commercial space and provide frequent launch opportunities to international partners.

For those that are fans of the dancefloor and have a knack for engineering and science, Rocket Lab is actually hiring.

Ibiza authorities are banning disposable plastics

Filed by Abbey ShoreAbbey Shore

Ibiza authorities continued their pledge to beautify the White Isle’s beaches with a ban on disposable plastics. The ban is set to take effect by 2020.

A recent report by Greenpeace states that the Mediterranean alone has accumulated 1,455 tonnes of plastic with 75 percent of rubbish collected on Spanish beaches being made of plastic.

According to a regional publication The Local, the ban includes plastic cups, straws, disposable lighters and even coffee machine capsules (ex: Keurig pods).

“Our territory is limited and environmentally sensitive, while an economy mainly based on tourism sends the use of such items spiralling”, explained Sebastiá Sansó, director general of the region’s environmental department. “We want to be fully recyclable by 2020.”

The announcement follows other legislation meant to enhance sustainability of the island and control the type of tourism taking place across the Balearic islands. Restrictions on open-air music venues, enhanced noise ordinances, and even an alcohol ban on incoming flights have been either approved or discussed by local officials.

While no financial impact report has been provided, the ban on plastics could likely impact the availability of water within the island’s dancing destinations.
