Ultra Music Festival Has Sold 90% Of Tickets, Putting Festival Lovers In A Panic

Filed by amkr03eydamkr03eyd

Ultra Music Festival, happening on March 23-25, 2018, created a major scare yesterday when they shared on all their social media accounts that 90% the event’s tickets have sold out. If you don’t act fast enough, you may have to watch from home.

In 2016 we saw a similar occurrence, where ticket sales were 90% sold out on December 26th, 2016 for the 19th year the festival. Looking back even further, ticket sales for Ultra 2015 had 100% their VIP tickets swiped by March 20th, 2015. This was only 7 days before their festival, but tickets for general admission were still available.

We’ve seen a major increase in Ultra’s ticket sales since 2015. So why the big increase in ticket sales? This East Coast festival in Miami, Florida has become more popular over the years as it continues to fer absolutely fire lineups each time. Over the years, this festival has grown bigger and better; it has been rated the second best music festival in the country, according to .

We know you might be anxiously waiting for Phase 2 to still come out so you can start planning with friends to pick and choose who you want to see, but don’t wait for too long. As their 20th Anniversary nears, you’ll likel yneed to swipe a ticket within the next few days before it is completely sold out! This is the 20th anniversary, so go big or go home, right?

Ultimately, we hope that our fellow festival lovers purchased their tickets or can hop on them soon enough. We will see you in 50 day – and if you don’t get a ticket in time, better luck next year!

A Brand New Techno Festival Will Take Place in Military Barracks

A Brand New Techno Festival Will Take Place in Military Barracks

There are few things in this world that go better than peanut butter and jelly. Milk and cookies, bacon and eggs, Carnage and crappy music… But what goes better than ? Nothing. The pair is timeless.

Berliners’ undying affection for techno comes on par with a fondness for tangible memories the German Democratic Republican (GDR) past, which is why the creators   merged the two into an event that will undoubtedly become the rave highlight your summer.

This brand new techno event will run on August 17th, 18th and 19th this year. While there were rumours that it was going to take place at a long-abandoned nuclear bunker north Berlin, the organizers confirmed this to be untrue.

The festival will actually take place in the abandoned barracks area that was used to camouflage and protect the bunker. It was used as the main headquarters the National Defense Council (NVR) the GDR. In the event an (atomic) attack, the NVR, chaired by Erich Honecker, would have assumed the political, economic and military leadership the state from here.

There is definitely some pretty cool history behind it, as the bunker was built between 1978 and 1983.

While not in the bunker itself, the line-up is far from disappointing. Although there are only 12 out 32 acts announced so far, the festival features performances from , , , , , , , and many more.

Because nothing says “techno” like an East German military site. You can learn more about the festival and purchase tickets .

Eric Prydz announces new hologram live show, HOLO

Filed by Bunny RobertiBunny Roberti

Eric Prydz has announced a brand new live hologram show, HOLO. The show will debut this summer across three UK gigs in Belfast, Glasgow and at Creamfields festival.

This announcement comes following a teaser released earlier this week, after which many suspected the return of his EPIC live show which celebrated its fifth outing last year with a 15,000 capacity sold-out gig in London. HOLO is a new concept that has been in the works for several years. It will make use of similar holographic technology to create a thrilling, tourable live experience as opposed to the site specific design of EPIC.

HOLO has been locked for three UK dates this summer: June 2nd in Braehead Arena, Glasgow; June 30th at Belsonic Festival, Belfast; and August 30th at Creamfields Festival.

The show will be headline act on Creamfield’s Sunday bill, with Prydz bringing HOLO to its incredible Steel Yard mega-strcture stage. He will join the likes of Carl Cox, Above & Beyond and Tiesto, who are also set to play at the festival.

EPIC has been confirmed to return in future with version 6.0 planned for 2019 and set to be its most groundbreaking installment to date.

Watch the teaser for HOLO below. Tickets will be available this Friday February 2nd at 9am GMT.

It’s shaping up to be a massive year for Prydz with his Pyrda Arena being locked for Tomorrowland and sets confirmed at massive festivals including Ultra Europe. Read our in-depth interview with him from last year here.

This new DJ device could mean the end for timecode vinyl: Watch

Filed by Ryan FerroRyan Ferro

Phase is a new device from MWM that allows users to control DVS software without the need for a needle, cartridge or even timecode vinyl. The device sits atop any 12” vinyl record and sends signals wirelessly to a USB receiver that converts the data to a readable signal by the compatible DJ software.

By removing the vinyl and needle from the equation, MWM hope to eliminate rumble and interference issues from defective equipment or less-than-ideal surroundings. When it comes to wireless technology and live performance, latency issues are always a concern. To combat this, MWM have created their own bespoke and patented wireless communication protocol that sends over 3,400 ‘ticks’ per second – more than four times the amount of existing technology.

How this works in practice we’ll have to wait and see, but Phase is a very promising product for those who still require the tactile feel of vinyl. Wireless in the booth has a rocky history, but there’s no doubt it’s the future of how we perform. Phase could be a big step forward. If you’re not convinced by timecode and prefer the real thing, Ortofon’s new Concorde mkII range of needles have just been announced. While you’re at it, Technics’ new turntable only costs $20,000 and pay day is just around the corner.

Rusko Releases Extremely Satisfying New Track 'Look Out'

 Rusko – Look Out!

A recently cancer free Rusko is back and he’s back with an appetite for bass. After taking a break from creating music to recover, his new track ‘Look Out!‘ is the exact refresher we needed. ‘Look Out!’ incorporates classic Rusko elements like the energetic “WOO” vocals, slow, heavy wubs, and even a bit jazzy saxophone pieces.

He took to Facebook to gather the opinions listeners and what their first thoughts were upon hearing ‘Look Out!’ for the first time using one word.

We know what ours is, and it’s nostalgia. The three minute track is perfectly timed, and is just the right amount anticipation and climax. Check out his latest track below, and determine for yourself the first word that comes to mind when you listen to ‘Look Out!’.

These are the Top 30 UK club events in February 2018

Filed by amkr03eydamkr03eyd

It’s not that we didn’t have an awesome time in January— one look at our pick of the month’s parties is enough to prove how much there was going on of serious worth. Nevertheless, 2018 only gets better from here, so it’s time to roundup the top UK club events in February.

London town has us particularly excited about homegrown hero Robin Hall, who has invited Luke Vibert— responsible for one of DJ Mag’s favourite albums of last year— along with the equally heroic Justin Robertson and Bushwacka! to celebrate Memory Box’s 5th Birthday.

Junction 2 have a massive techno session coming up; don’t miss Modeselektor and LSD at that one. Legendary US house player Doc Martin is in the capital, too, and one of the city’s newest spots, E1, has the honour of a full live show from Herzblut boss Stephan Bodzin

Leeds institution System at Mint Club marks a decade in the game— Fuse are in the house b2b2b, as is Romanian don Praslea, Onur Ozer and Binh, while local stalwarts Annie Errez and Bobby O’Donnell are always on point.

Ame plays Newcastle for the first time in five years at Ape-X’s 10th Birthday with Gerd Jansen, HMT go hard with Treehouse courtesy of the ever-rave-y Happa and Mumdance. Meanwhile, Liverpool gets a day and night of prog, with studio maestro Charlie May making a very rare appearance.

In Brighton, Worldwide FM star Esa heads to town this month. Joy Orbison is on with one of NTS Radio’s finest, Jon Rust, at Southampton’s Junk, and none other than DJ Stingray hits Oxford’s always essential soiree, Simple.

Delete returns to Cardiff with selectors’ selectors The Ghost, Mella Dee delivers techno-disco business to Get Down in Plymouth, and John Gomez (see: Rush Hour and Music From Memory) is also in the neighbourhood.

Midlands types get two free parties, including esteemed intimate house music throwdown Natural Selections marking its 2nd Birthday in Shrewsbury, and The Acid Experiment in Birmingham, the latter offering a hush-hush lineup comprising veterans and impressive fresh faces alike.

Big hits elsewhere include a pair of events at Belfast’s much-hyped Telegraph Building (our top choice for the region and Shine’s latest date), Abdulla Rashim stomps into Edinburgh, and team Pulse— which we featured in depth in our December magazine— have the honour of Mr. G live, also in the Scottish capital, with help from the Karnival crew.

More complete listings for the entire UK are available in the latest print issue, DJ Mag 578, just in case this lot aren’t enough. Now, without further ado, let’s count ’em down.

There’s a new a new 3000-capacity club opening in London

Filed by Elsa MajewskiElsa Majewski

Broadwick Live are set to open a new 3000-capacity music space in London this March.

The currently unnamed space will open within London’s Printworks venue as an addition to its two current rooms, Press Halls and Charge Bay.

Open during the week from Monday to Fridays, the space will alternate programming between live and electronic music events.

Sound and lighting design at the new space will be taken care of by a production team who have previously worked on Manchester’s iconic Haçienda and Warehouse Project.

Speaking to Time Out London, Broadwick Live’s managing director Bradley Thompson said, “We want to position ourselves as another key venue for London that can hold 3,000 people.

“I feel that the city is lacking at that kind of level—if you go to certain venues, the diaries are quite full and bands don’t necessarily get the capacities they want.”

Armin van Buuren announces new single dropping this Friday

Filed by fmdj2u7leqg6cfmdj2u7leqg6c

Armin Van Buuren has announced his first new music of the year. The new track, entitled ‘Sex, Love and Water’ will be released this Friday 2nd February.

The track, which follows his trance Christmas single in December, features guest vocals from Australian singer Conrad Sewell. The Dutch trance star is set for yet another massive year, having been announced for several massive summer festivals like TomorrowlandSW4 and Ultra Miami and Europe

Not only that, Van Buuren left a lot of people scratching their heads last week when he became the first DJ to perform upside down during a set in Amsterdam. We’re still not sure why.

While you’re waiting for ‘Sex, Love and Water’ to land on Friday, you can revisit his set from DJ Mag HQ Ibiza last year below.

KAAZE – Opera (feat. Elle Vee)

Swedish big room house producer and Tiësto protege KAAZE just released a mesmerizing new track entitled ‘Opera.’

Breathing life back into the big room scene, he tapped singer Elle Vee to adorn his production with her beautiful operatic vocals. The track counteracts the delicate vocals with a glitchy build-up and soaring drop. The big room genre got a bit stale for a few years but luckily artists like him are trying to bring fresh material to the table.

We expect to hear all the major big room DJs to be spinning this track in the upcoming festival season.

Mixed in Key release new plugins to help you learn music: Watch

Filed by Joe NoletteJoe Nolette

Mixed in Key have released a new series of plugins aimed at helping users learn and create more dynamic chords. The three plugins in the Captain series – Chords, Deep and Melody – are all aimed at assisting composition with suggested and experimental chord and note choices – all within a set key.

Captain Melody allows users to create melodies for their tracks, with arpeggios and preset rhythms to mix up your riff. Captain Deep is based around creating basslines that compliment your chords and melody, as well as encouraging users to try new notes, harmonies and rhythms. Together the three plugins attempt to simplify the musical process and get producers with less musical training writing more interesting compositions.

There’s also some built in sounds to test out your new chords, or you can route it into your VST of choice. All three plugins cost $79 and are available now. If you’re not musically proficient but still want to make music, Native Instruments’ new Sounds.com platform offers unlimited key-labeled samples for instant preview and download. Alternatively, check this recent Song Exploder with the Stranger Things theme writers for more insight into composition.
