J Aktive: Proving Independent Artists Can Produce Their Own Music

J Aktive, an independent artist from Los Angeles, is taking the music industry by storm with his unique blend of sound and style. J Aktive is not only a rapper, but also an executive producer who works closely with his engineer, Yoji Roby, to fine-tune and enhance every aspect of the song to execute his original vision. His work has been produced by other producers, but he has no problem producing for himself.

J Aktive’s music career started at an early age. He grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. He learned how to play the saxophone in the third grade, which taught him how to read and write music. By the time he was a preteen, he recorded his first song. He moved to Downtown Los Angeles at the age of 22 and created Aktivate Productions, where he directed and edited music videos for other artists to make a living. After years of being behind the scenes in the music industry, he decided to take his music career into his own hands.

J Aktive’s first debut album, “Bad Luv,” dropped in 2022, with the leading single “Pist Off” going viral on social media and getting reposted from celebrities such as Janet Jackson, Deion Sanders, Mario Lopez, Dougie Fresh, and many others. With all the attention, “Bad Luv” LP reached over 3 million streams across all streaming platforms.

J Aktive has many new singles coming out this year. He plans to release 20 uniquely different new singles in the year of 2023. He wants to take the “Russ” approach and release a song once a week until he runs out of unreleased songs. He also has a major single coming out with a platinum-selling artist this spring that he’s excited about.

J Aktive’s music is all about motivating and inspiring his audience. He wants them to Aktivate their true ambitions and communicate that you can be cool and be yourself. He also wants to bring the fun back to music, like the 90’s vibes where people were more happy with themselves, before social media took over.

In a day in his shoes, J Aktive wakes up and makes a healthy smoothie and takes his daily supplements. Then, he meets with his team to continue game planning on new ways to promote his image and latest projects. During the day, they’re in his office editing content, mixing new music, and shooting new videos, and reaching out to major platforms to showcase his artistry. At night, he likes to work out before he goes to sleep, which helps his brain wind down after a full day of heavy thinking.

J Aktive’s biggest challenge was leaving his old group of friends to create a positive lifestyle for himself. As cliché as it sounds, he wasn’t in the most supportive circles growing up and needed to make a change to become the person he is today. Another challenge he faced was when his mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor located at the stem of her brain a couple of years ago. She had two options: chemotherapy or brain surgery, both of which had a high failure rate. But J Aktive is a fighter and persevered through it all.
