Eddie Boy: Crafting Feel-Good Alt-Pop with a Latin Twist

In the vibrant world of Alt-Pop, there’s a rising star who goes by the name Eddie. His music is a captivating blend of emotions, rhythms, and a touch of Latin flavor, and he’s here to make you feel good, dance, and connect with your emotions.

In a recent interview, Eddie gave us a glimpse into his musical journey, creative process, and the story behind his latest single, ‘Sweet & Sour Sugar Lemon.’

“I like to describe my music as feel good, emotional and sometimes dancey Alt pop with a Latin vibe,” says Eddie when asked about his musical style. His influences change frequently, but at the moment, he’s drawn to the sound design of Canadian duo Tennyson and the songwriting prowess of The Beatles.

Reflecting on his journey as an artist, Eddie notes, “It’s been an incredible experience to see and experience a multicultural scene. In the Latin world, there’s so much happening and in the states as well. Tapping into these scenes as both an artist and producer has been nothing less than exciting. There’s only a bright and fun path ahead.”

His latest single, ‘Sweet & Sour Sugar Lemon,’ has a unique origin story. “I wrote the hook while driving on a beautiful evening that turned real sour from alarming news. It was so strange to be falling in love during such times, and that’s what I wanted to convey in the song. To have it be a very uplifting vibe yet having that sense of uncertainty,” Eddie explains.

Eddie’s creative process is a beautiful chaos. “I wish there was a specific process… it would make my life much easier but probably less fun,” he laughs. “Each song comes from different places. I like coming up with little melodic ideas and words that fit them. I have thousands on my phone. Sometimes I’ll be sitting at my studio playing with sounds, and when I’m trying to write something, I’ll go back to my phone and see if some of those ideas fit the track I’m playing with. That’s kind of what happened for ‘Sweet and Sour Sugar Lemon.’”

While icons like The Beatles, Harry Styles, and Miley Cyrus have significantly influenced Eddie’s musical journey, he draws inspiration from unexpected sources as well. “I’ve always had a huge love for classical music, and romantic composers really influenced the way I think of melodies. Chopin and Tchaikovsky are surely some of my favorites,” he reveals.

Being based in Los Angeles, Eddie finds himself in the heart of a fast-paced music scene with a constant influx of talented artists. “LA can be such a fast-paced city when it comes to music, and there’s such a constant flow of artists and people trying to make a name for themselves. That itself is a huge source of experiences and stories to tell,” he says.

Eddie firmly believes that music should reflect experiences, whether they are personal or drawn from the lives of others. “One thousand percent,” he asserts. “I like to take experiences like the one that inspired ‘Sweet & Sour Sugar Lemon,’ which was somewhat of a dark one in a time of so much uncertainty, and turn them into songs. But I also love using other people’s experiences as inspiration. That makes it for a much larger palette of opportunities to write and take from.”

Looking ahead, Eddie envisions a future filled with music. “I want to be making songs for a long time, whether that is for myself or with other artists. I want the next few years to be about more songs, more collaborations, and to have my music take me places to make music at,” he says. His ultimate goal? “To make music with Rosalia.”

For fans eagerly awaiting live performances, Eddie has exciting plans. “I’m planning a tour next year where I’ll be showcasing my songs but also showcasing other artists I call friends who make amazing music too. Dates are tbd but I’m thrilled to get out there and play live.”

Eddie treasures the connections he has with his fans and looks forward to engaging with them on this exciting musical journey. “Nothing livens my day more than getting messages from people saying that they found my music and it made them feel something. I try to stay active on social media as much as I can and absolutely love connecting with my listeners. The only reason I put music out is because it makes me feel good things, but if it makes someone else feel something too… there’s nothing better.”

Eddie’s music is a delightful tapestry of emotions, rhythms, and diverse influences. With ‘Sweet & Sour Sugar Lemon’ offering a taste of what’s to come, Eddie’s future in the Alt-Pop scene promises to be as colorful and captivating as his music itself. Keep an eye out for Eddie as he continues to create, collaborate, and connect with audiences around the world.
