Underworld announce new album, ‘Strawberry Hotel’, share ‘Black Poppies’: Listen

Underworld have shared details of their new album, ‘Strawberry Hotel’. Listen to the first single below.

The British electronic outfit – comprised of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith – will release their eleventh studio album on 25th October via Virgin Music/Smith Hyde Productions. Coinciding with the announcement, the band have shared the lead single, ‘Black Poppies’, which they describe as “a celestial love song”.

The 15-track record will also feature the recent singles ‘and the colour red’ and ‘denver luna’, which dropped earlier this summer after being debuted at a live show in Bristol in March. The album is available to pre-order here.

Hints about what fans can expect sonically from ‘Strawberry Hotel’ beyond the singles have been sparse, with Hyde and Smith sharing only one request: “Please don’t shuffle.”

‘Strawberry Hotel’ marks Underworld’s first album since 2019’s experimental ‘Drift’ project, where the band recorded, mixed and released new music every week for a year.

Underworld also recently wrapped up a UK and Europe tour which began with four sold-out shows at Amsterdam’s Gashouder before the group headed to Germany, Denmark, Norway, Belgium and the UK.

Strawberry Hotel’ is out 25th October. Check out the tracklist, and listen to lead single ‘Black Poppies’ below.
