Ultra Taiwan guest DJs fined for breaking quarantine

News

Guest DJs at Taiwan’s Road to Ultra event have reportedly been fined for breaking quarantine rules.

The event, which took place last Saturday (14th) in Taiwan’s capital city of Taipei, saw Road To Ultra host the likes of Alesso, Slander and Vini Vici at the Dajia Riverside Park. However, on the same day of the event, Taiwan News reported that during the mandatory 14-day quarantine period for international DJs performing at Road To Ultra, four performers had left their separate rooms at a quarantine facility.

According to the report, head of the disease control section of the Taipei Department of Health, Yu Tsang-hua (余燦華), said that the four artists arrived in Taiwan at the end of October, and were in quarantine for 14 days until the 12th November. Prior to the quarantine date, the four reportedly met up to rehearse and eat, and each of the DJs is now required to pay NT$10,000 within seven days of receiving their penalty notice.

Though the Department of Health did not name the DJs, the only international acts on the line-up were Alesso, Kayzo, Slander and Vini Vici, who performed alongside Taiwanese acts DJ Junior, DJ Pei and Ray Ray.

While countries like Taiwan, which has had between 0 – 7 new daily cases of COVID-19 since April, are gaining some sense of normality post-pandemic, some countries in Europe are stil struggling to contain the virus. In October, the French government announced that all bars in Paris would be closed with immediate effect, and the UK recently introduced a 10PM curfew on bars and pubs, before closing down for another lockdown earlier this month.
