NGAIO announces ‘Four Quarters Remixed’ EP, shares ‘Hold You Down’ rework: Listen
NGAIO has announced a new remix EP of her 2024 collection, ‘Four Quarters’, and shared the first track. You can listen to the new rework of ‘Hold You Down’ below.
The Bristol-based singer, songwriter, DJ, producer, activist and Booty Bass member’s latest release takes the original jazz-inflected single and turns it into a percussive, bass-heavy, club-first tune. Reflecting the artist’s evolution from vocalist and musician to studio head, her background in soul, Afrobeat and electronica remain loud and clear throughout the release.
“I’m very excited to announce the lead single of my next project — ‘Four Quarters Remixed’ — where I’ve taken the last EP and flipped it for the clubs,” said NGAIO. “This first single, ‘Hold You Down (Remixed)’, reflects the spaces I’ve been playing in, my roots in electronic music and my love of the sweaty, bass-y wobble of the underground I grew up in, matched with vocals that speak of positivity and self-love.”
The EP will be released in full on 4th September, almost 12 months after the self-produced ‘Four Quarters’ landed, and performances at festivals including Glastonbury and Shambala this summer. Funding from the DJ Mag x Help Musicians Electronic Award was used to bring this latest project to life. Applications for the 2025 Award opened on Monday 4th and will close on Friday 29th August.
