Tomorrowland’s Symphony of Unity orchestra to release debut album
Tomorrowland’s Symphony of Unity orchestra will release their debut album later this year, following four sets across the 2025 double-weekend festival.
The Symphony of Unity is a specially curated Tomorrowland show that sees a full orchestra perform renditions of classic dance music tracks.
In an interview with DJ Mag at Tomorrowland, Symphony of Unity harpist Lise Vandersmissen said, “There’s an album coming out — our first album — which is really exciting. It’s full of really amazing music. The musicians and the creative team of the Symphony of Unity have worked really hard to put it together. It will be coming out later this year. We can’t wait to share it with you.”
The Symphony of Unity originated in 2015, when the 80-piece Belgian National Orchestra played the Boom-based festival. The show returned in 2019 for two hour-long showcases at Tomorrowland and two shows at the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome, this time with the Netherlands’ Metropole Orchestra Academy.
In 2025, the Symphony of Unity orchestra play Tomorrowland’s warehouse-like Freedom stage twice on each Saturday (from 5-6PM and 9-10PM on 19th and 26th July). There will also be special closing performances on Monday 21st and Monday 28th July at the Vaudeville Theatre in Brussels.
Speaking on the orchestra’s creative process, Vandersmissen said, “There’s a whole team of creative minds of the Symphony of Unity who choose the music and orchestrate it, divide all the parts. And then we go away and learn it individually ourselves first, and then we come together for a few days where we put it together with our amazing conductor Kevin Houben.”
“It’s so amazing to be able to play, as a classical musician, on a stage where you get a direct reaction from the public… because they give us energy and we give them energy, and its just like this spiral which is amazing to be a part of,” said Symphony of Unity violinist Ruben.
Along with the Symphony of Unity performances, Tomorrowland’s Freedom stage also benefitted from a redesign this year.
