Tomorrowland 2025’s new main stage built with help from Metallica tour parts

Tomorrowland 2025’s new main stage has reportedly been constructed using parts from Metallica’s recent tour.

As part of an urgent overnight effort, elements from the band’s WorldWired stage and touring rig were used to help build the “alternative setup for Tomorrowland’s beloved main stage”, which was destroyed in a fire earlier this week. According to reports from Belgian news outlet HLN, the stage parts were being stored in Austria following the European leg of Metallica’s tour, and were air-lifted to the festival site during the night.

Martin Garrix offered his thanks to Metallica in an Instagram post, shared alongside a photo with the band’s drummer Lars Ulrich. “I can not believe I’m actually typing this… but my set at Tomorrowland is still happening!”, Garrix wrote.

“Massive love and a big shoutout to the incredible Tomorrowland team for pulling off miracles — and to Metallica for coming through with the new stage parts…”

A small team were tasked with constructing the replacement stage with less than 24 hours to go before the festival’s scheduled opening. Despite the challenges, Tomorrowland 2025 opened to the public at 2 PM as planned today, 18th July, with the alternative mainstage hosting its first DJ set at 4 PM.

Speaking to DJ Mag reporters on site, Tomorrowland’s Debby Wilmsen shared: “It is a miracle and we are beyond happy to be opening.”

“Two hours ago we were still demolishing the old stage,” she added.
