The Prodigy pay tribute to Keith Flint during ‘Firestarter’ at London show: Watch
The Prodigy paid tribute to Keith Flint during a performance of ‘Firestarter’ at their O2 Academy Brixton show in London last Thursday (21st July).
Captured on fan-shot footage, the band can be seen performing their hit 1996 single while a laser outline of the late frontman dances in the background. After moving into Andy C’s drum & bass remix of the classic tune, The Prodigy’s Maxim addressed the crowd: “He’s still fucking with us right now. He’s still here! Mr. Flint fucking lives on in here!” Watch the footage below.
The Prodigy embarked on their sold-out UK summer tour at the start of the month, beginning in Sheffield on 8th July and culminating in three nights at Brixton Academy. The group have paid tribute to Flint at each show, and dedicated the tour to him, stating “THIS ONE’S FOR FLINTY” when it was announced earlier this year.
The finale show took place on Saturday (23rd July). “It’s been uplifting, emotional, sonically violent, crowd chaotic,10,000 degrees… all that shit we luv!!,” The Prodigy wrote on Instagram. “We are energised by ur support and luv and we will never forget that. Respect always to the worldwide Prodigy warriors who represent, we luv u all.”
Meanwhile, The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett has been busy scoring a new Netflix horror movie, ‘Choose or Die’, which is currently streaming on the platform. Formerly titled CURS>R, the film stars Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield, The 100’s Lola Evans and Sherlock Holmes’ Eddie Marsan, as well as Robert Englund aka Freddie Krueger.
Due on 4th November via XL Recordings, a 25th anniversary vinyl reissue of The Prodigy’s 1997 album ‘The Fat of the Land’ comes with Andy C’s remix in tow.
