Sónar Lisboa locks Bicep, Arca, Overmono, more for debut festival

Sónar Lisboa has announced 46 new additions to this year’s line-up.

Taking place from the 8th to the 9th April 2022, the inaugural Portugese edition of Sónar will take place in a number of venues across Lisbon, including Pavilhão Carlos Lopes, the Coliseu dos Recreios and the Centro de Congressos de Lisboa, with Belgian techno star Charlotte de Witte, Floating Points core member of Kampala’s Nyege Nyege collective, Kampire, Thundercat and Jayda G among the first names revealed in October last year.

Among the new names joining the 2022 line-up are two of the UK’s biggest electronic duos, Bicep and Overmono, who’ll be joined by Venezuelan artist Arca, Plus 8 label head Richie Hawtin, as well as homegrown talent in the form of Violet (live), Acid Alice and BLEID.

Elsewhere, Nkisi, DJ Shadow, and Photonz have also been confirmed to perform at the debut event, alongside DJ Stingray 313, Leon Vynehall — who will perform live — and Rui Vargas,

As well as DJ sets and performances, a full programme of talks, workshops, debates, demos, immersive experiences and exhibitions will take place across the three-day event, including conferences that will explore intersections between art and creativity, between technology and research, and between music and science.
