Gladstone Deluxe – No Haterade

Gladstone Deluxe has one of the most interesting CVs in dance music. Member of a trans salsa band? Princeton music grad student? Techno artist making music so funky Moog features them in an advert? Check, check, and check. All of this comes together on Deluxe’s latest EP, ‘No Haterade’. In four tracks, they move from robotic electro to dub inflected house, but the pick of the bunch is EP opener ‘Cleanse’. The drums are so swung they are almost horizontal, channeling vintage ’90s tech — but then we get blasted into the future thanks to a strange, sci-fi string line halfway through. This is serious club weaponry from a future superstar.
