Richie Hawtin unveils new live show, DEX EFX X0X
Richie Hawtin is set to debut a new live show concept at two festivals over the course of May and June.
DEX EFX X0X will build on the concepts of his classic ‘Decks, EFX & 909’ series of compilations from 1995 to 2005, adding various new technological advancements into his set-up that have come since those early releases.
Hawtin will debut the new set at Detroit’s Movement Festival on Sunday, 26th May, before taking it to Barcelona’s Sónar on Friday, 14th June. Both festivals have been the sites of previous live show premieres for Hawtin, such as 2010’s Plastikman Live concept and 2017’s CLOSE.
Speaking about the project, Hawtin said: “Moving away from the current trend of shows giving the priority to the image rather than sound, DEX EFX X0X brings the audience back into an immersive sound and lighting experience. More club than concert.
“DEX EFX X0X continues my personal exploration of improvisation using modern performance technology resulting in a unique sonic narrative for each and every show.”
Last year, Hawtin reissued his classic Plastikman record ‘Sheet One’ to mark its 30th anniversary.
