Príncipe announces compilation of formative kuduro tracks from Lisbon’s DJs Di Guetto

Príncipe has announced a new compilation of formative kuduro tracks from Lisbon’s DJs Di Guetto. Check it out below.

The new compilation is a reissue of ‘Vol. 1’, a 37-track digital release that was originally dropped digitally back in September 2006 by Marfox, N.K., Jesse, Pausas, Fofuxo and Nervoso – collectively known as DJs Di Guetto.

The upcoming double LP will include 13 tracks from the original recording – a selection that captures the spirit and energy of kuduro, a style of music that originated in Angola in the late ’80s, but evolved and exploded in the barrios of Lisbon.

The complete ‘DJs Di Guetto’ double LP will feature printed artwork as well as an individually hand-painted back sleeve.

Revisit Anna Cafolla’s deep dive into kuduro for DJ Mag, in which she spoke with the DJs and producers at the helm of the scene here.

The ‘DJs Di Guetto’ double LP is set to be released 4th August 2023. You can preorder a copy of the release for yourself today here.

DJ Fofuxo’s track ‘É Africa’ from the release is out now, listen to it below.
