Premiere: Stevie Cox ‘Jecht Shot’
Stevie Cox will release her new EP, ‘Jecht Shot’, later this week via Remmah Records. Have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
Having notched up releases on Duality Trax, EPM and Optimo Music (home to her February debut solo EP, ‘Expansion’) already this year, Glasgow-based DJ and producer keeps the heat coming at breakneck speed with this new two-tracker. Inspired by Japanese-style role-playing games (JRPG’s), ‘Jecht Shot’ finds the Sub Club resident roving deeper into melodic drum & bass territory, folding brain-tickling bass zaps and melodramatic arpeggiation into her signature tight, energetic break-work.
On the B-side, ‘Midnight With DC’, things get a little more astral, with tunnelling trance melodies and aqueous flourishes of acid that serve to make the kicks feel even mightier, before Canada-based Californian producer, Cooper Saver, carries the project home with a ruminative remix of the title track.
“Really happy to be back on the label with something a wee bit different,” Cox, who is also a resident at Glasgow’s La Cheetah, shared. “Even happier to have one of the best about – the ridiculously talented Cooper Saver – on board too!”
Initially launched during lockdown as a digital platform for his own music, Hammer’s Remmah label has grown into a bustling beacon for high-energy club sounds, with releases from the likes of Long Island Sound, KILIMANJARO, Anna Gram, Dart, and more. Stevie Cox’s first release on the imprint came in 2022, when she linked up with London-based producer Fossil Archive and Kiara Scuro’s ZaaZaa for the four-track ‘Daydreamer’ EP.
Catch her DJing at Subculture’s 30th anniversary event on Saturday 27th April, alongside fellow residents Harri & Domenic and Telford. Tickets are still available here.
‘Jecht Shot’ is out 25th April on Remmah. Pre-save the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to the title track below.
