Premiere: Silva Bumpa ‘Passion’

Silva Bumpa will release a new EP, ‘What About The DJ?’, on Locked On Records later this week. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Passion’ below.

Spurred by his love of northern rave and bassline, and talent for channelling it into bumper-sized productions for labels including ec2a and Hardline, Silva Bumpa has been scaling the ranks of the UK Garage circuit since his first release back in 2022. Now, the Sheffield-based DJ and producer is touching down on the legendary Locked On Records with a devilish new suite of low-end goodness, combining UK bass grit with the cheeky bounce of ’90s club classics.

Set for release this Friday (26th April), ‘What About The DJ?’ features the previously released title track, as well as ‘Without U (feat. Megan Wroe’ and ‘Songs Of Praise’, alongside North London MC Capo Lee. Rounding out the set is ‘Passion’ – a bubbling house-infused roller that invokes early Disclosure as much as it does Main Phase – and the strobing ‘Rock 2 Da Beat’, crafted from chunky Reese basslines and techno-leaning synth loops for maximum dancefloor devastation.

Speaking to DJ Mag about ‘Passion’, Silva Bumpa shared: “I wanted to try & make a track that combined the groove of a tech house tune but with the sounds of speed garage. Those diva vocals and the reese bass are a classic combination and this tune shows more of my housier side of my production, something I would play at the start of my set.”

To celebrate the release, Silva Bumpa is set to perform at the ‘23 Degrees x Locked On Records’ live show at London’s Village Underground on Friday 31st May, with Megan Wroe joining for the first live rendition of ‘Without U’. Remaining tickets available here.

‘What About The DJ?’ is out 26th April on Locked On Records. Pre-order the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to ‘Passion’ below.

Last year, Interplanetary Criminal curated a Locked On Records compilation featuring tracks from Todd Edwards, Main Phase, Bakey, Perception, and more.
