Premiere: Excelsior Ruth ‘Dream Of Night (Drinkwater’s Dawn Return Mix)’

Excelsior Ruth will release her eponymous debut EP later this week on High Priestess Recordings. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Dream Of Night (Drinkwater’s Dawn Return Mix)’ below.

Marking the inaugural release on High Priestess, South London’s newest hotbed for cosmic club sounds, Excelsior Ruth delivers four spellbinding electronic transmissions, alongside a mix from DJ Drinkwater. Joining the dots between the classical and the contemporary, the five-track EP comprises field recordings, drone, traditional choral music and mákina – a subgenre of hardcore techno, originating in the producer’s native Spain – woven into intricate ambient shapes, and held together by Ruth’s breathtaking harp-work.

Rounding out the set, South London hardcore producer DJ Drinkwater gives ‘Dream Of Night’ an acid-trance facelift on his Dawn Return Mix, featuring lashings of psyched-out synth, propulsive percussion and a throbbing bassline. If ‘Excelsior Ruth’ is anything to go by, we can expect plenty more sonic surprises from High Priestess in the near future.

‘Excelsior Ruth’ is out 5th May via High Priestess Recordings. Limited physical copies of the EP are available here, which come with free tarot and a poem on the rear side. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Dream Of Night (Drinkwater’s Dawn Return Mix)’ below.
