Depeche Mode concert film, M, set for worldwide cinema release
Depeche Mode have announced their concert film, M, will get a worldwide cinema release. After premiering at Tribeca Film Festival this year, limited cinema and IMAX screenings will start on 28th October.
Directed by filmmaker Fernando Frias, the film charts not just the live shows and the preparation behind them, but also the place of death and mortality in Mexican culture.
“At its core, our new film, M, is about the deep connection between music, culture, and people — and Fernando Frías, who directed and conceived the film, did a beautiful job telling that story through the lens of Mexican culture and our shows in Mexico City,” said Dave Gahan.
The feature-length concert film documents their three sold-out shows at Foro Sol Stadium in Mexico City, which took place in September 2023. The tour was in support of the band’s 15th studio album, ‘Momento Mori’, which was released the same year.
A particularly poignant release, the album was the band’s first since the passing of co-founder Andy Fletcher the previous year.
Tickets go on sale from 17th September.
Last year, Depeche Mode shared a new video for the track, ‘Before We Drown’. The visual was directed by the band’s longtime collaborator, Anton Corbijn.
