Petition launched to ban “woo woo”ing at house music nights

A petition has been set up calling for a ban on “woo woo”ing at house music events.

Set up via Change.org, the petition ‘Stop Woo-Woo’ing When DJs Play House Music’ has hit a few hundred signatures at the time of writing, with an aim to reaching 500.

“We get it, you finally like house music even though it’s been around for decades,” writes the petition’s author, John Jones. “There is nothing more annoying than when people shriek ‘woo-woo’ to the beat when DJs play house music. Some would even say it’s worse than fan-clacking. Just dance and enjoy the music… there’s no need to squawk like a pelican every 5 seconds.

Jones continues: “House music is becoming more and more popular in the States every day, so this problem is only going to get worse. Stop with the woo-woo’s.”

It remains to be seen whether the petition will garner enough attention to reach the attention of any higher powers, but if the phenomenon of woo-woo’ing at house music nights also bothers you, you can sign it here.

This isn’t the first time an amusing petition has been set up related to electronic music. Last year, one calling upon the UK Government to “bring back Daft Punk” was, as you might expect, rejected after gaining a fair bit of attention.
