Outkast inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Outkast have been inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The legendary hip-hop duo were announced as first-time nominees back in February.

Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, and the White Stripes were also among this year’s inductees, while Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon have been recognised in the Musical Influence category.

“Each of these inductees created their own sound and attitude that had a profound impact on culture and helped to change the course of Rock & Roll forever,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, said in a press release shared by the AV Club. “Their music gave a voice to generations and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps.”

As the AV Club point out, potential inductees need to have released their first recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction will be streamed live on 8th November over at Disney+ and available to watch on Hulu the next day.

Last year, André 3000 told Rolling Stone last year that the group were “further away” from new music than they’ve ever been. The hip-hop icon released his flute-focused debut album, ‘New Blue Sun’, in November 2023.

Outkast, who marked ‘ATLiens” 25th anniversary with a special quadruple-LP box set in 2021, haven’t released an album as a group since 2006’s ‘Idlewild’ soundtrack.

Last August, the duo revealed that they were suing the EDM duo ATLiens for trademark infringement of their 1996 second album of the same name.
