Orbital drop rework of 1991 classic ‘Satan’: Listen

Orbital have dropped a reworked version of their classic 1991 track, ‘Satan’, marking three decades since the original landed.
Dubbed the ’30-Something’ version, the new interpretation is a four-to-the-floor, angst-y response to the breakbeat-driven rave anthem, which first appeared on the duo’s lauded ‘III’ EP — a bold, dark outing that cemented their reputation at the forefront of a then-nascent UK rave scene.
“‘Satan’, written before the dawn of chime. Through thick and thin it has always remained in the live set. This track has naturally evolved, shape shifting over time, taking on many new forms… [The] current incarnation of ‘Satan’ is how we play it now. It is a far cry from its humble beginnings, hailing back to the Belgium Nu Beat style which was popular at the time ‘Satan’ was born,” Orbital said of this latest outing, adding: “Never play it backwards after midnight.”
‘Satan (30-Something Rework)’ arrives shortly after a brand new take on another of the pair’s landmark efforts, ‘Belfast’, which was remixed by Brazilian techno-ist ANNA. Meanwhile, in summer Special Request turned his hand to rethinking the seminal 1989 Orbital track, ‘Chime’. More 30th anniversary takes on the band’s output are expected, but at the time of writing details are scarce on forthcoming instalments.
