New amapiano documentary released by BBC Radio 1Xtra: Watch

BBC Radio 1Xtra has shared a new documentary about amapiano music.

‘This Is Amapiano’ looks at the genre’s rise from South Africa’s townships to a global sound that is being heard across clubs and festivals. The 25-minute film also focuses on the genre’s distinctive sound and drum programming, and explores other elements such as fashion that exist around the music.

Among those who contribute words and thoughts to the film are key amapiano scene figures such as Major League DJz, Mr JazziQ, Oskido and Felo Le Tee. BBC Radio 1Xtra DJs Jeremiah Asiamah and DJ Edu also feature.
