A new 4,400-capacity venue is set to open in London.

London is set to gain a brand new music venue, fronted by Coachella’s AEG Presents, as part of revonations at West London exhibition centre, Olympia.

The plans were announced by developers yesterday, who revealed a number of plans for tenants at the brand new Olympia complex. As well as the new mega-venue, which is scheduled to open in 2023, Olympia will also be home to two hotels, with talks also currently underway for an arthouse cinema, a 1,500-seat theatre, and a number of restaurants and shops.

CEO of AEG Presents, Steve Homer, said in a statement: “this is a very exciting opportunity. Olympia is steeped in British music history as far back as Jimi Hendrix in the 60s. AEG Presents are delighted to be part of the new development and we plan to create more iconic shows for London audiences.”

There’s also a new 17,000-capacity arena due to open at Bristol’s Filton Airfield in 2023.

Elsewhere in the UK, in October, 1,385 arts organisations and venues were announced as partial recepients of a £257 million coronavirus grant from the Government.
