Movement Detroit 2025 line-up: first names announced

Movement Detroit has unveiled the first wave of names set to play its 2025 edition. Slated for Memorial Day Weekend (24th–26th May), the festival will return to its home at Hart Plaza, Detroit for its annual event.

The 2025 line-up teaser includes Carl Cox delivering his renowned Hybrid Live Set, a closing set from John Summit, and Jamie xx making his Movement debut off the back of his second album, ‘In Waves’. Other first-time performers include UK producer Sammy Virji, Italian techno artist Anfisa Letyago and the Berlin-based DJ Gigola. Drum & bass heavyweights Chase & Status are also confirmed for their Movement debut.

Festival regulars are well-represented, too, with returning acts including Detroit techno pioneers Carl Craig and DJ Minx. Brooklyn-based artist Ela Minus and UK house mainstay Patrick Topping will also play, alongside Detroit ghetto tech crew HiTech, Marcel Dettmann, Sama’ Abdulhadi and Klangkuenstler.

Speaking about his upcoming appearance, Carl Cox said: “Movement is a techno institution in Detroit so for me, it’s like reuniting with an old friend. I’m going to make up for the years I’ve missed with a show that’s going to send Detroit to another dimension!”

John Summit added: “I’m stoked to be playing Movement for the third time and now closing out the festival. I’ve attended as a fan for years, and the energy and support this city and crowd bring is always special. It’s an honour to be a part of such a legendary event.”

Movement’s 2024 edition featured headliners Fatboy Slim, James Blake and Floating Points, with additional sets from Kevin Saunderson B2B Idris Elba, Skream, Jaguar and Honey Dijon. The festival has built a reputation for blending its techno roots with wide-ranging electronic sounds and the next year’s teaser promises more of the same.

Tickets for Movement Detroit 2025 are available now, with both 3-day and 1-day passes for general admission and VIP on sale via the festival’s website. Payment plans are also offered.
