Hodge – Marsh Lane

Born from the sketches of his first live show — tested at Mutek Montréal this summer — Hodge’s latest EP distills the tension and intensity of that set into four precision-engineered bass-techno cuts. Released on his own Two Moons label, opener ‘Trent [Knee Jerk Mix]’ drives on a rigid 4/4 beat and itchy acid motifs, building from menacing melodies to dancefloor heft. The title track hears skittering breaks interrupt murky dub, snares snapping against dilating basslines, before tunnelling rhythms take us into more hypnotic territory on ‘Pluck’. Closer, ‘Haunt’, goes granular, winding down with intricate syncopations and tight, steady beats. A detailed and restless release from the Bristol producer.
