Introspekt shares new single, ‘Afro Bass’: Listen

Introspekt has shared a new track, ‘Afro Bass’.

Available to listen to below, the new cut is centred around shuffling rhythms that are part UK garage, part dubstep, as well as breathy vocal samples.

‘Afro Bass’ is lifted from Introspekt’s forthcoming debut album, ‘Moving The Center’, which is out on Tempa on Friday, 20th June. Paying homage to dubstep’s origins in London, it blends the sound with genres like garage and US house to reflect her own experiences of club music as a Los Angeles-born, New York-based DJ and producer.

Speaking about the album, Introspekt said: “‘Moving The Center’ embodies an alternate perspective to that which has been dominant in dance music, particularly so-called ‘bass music’. The narrative it presents is one which throws a wrench in the seemingly common perception of dubstep as a masculinist sensibility. ‘Moving The Center’ pushes a feminine physicality to the front of the bassbins. Femmes to the front!”

Introspekt previously shared lead cut ‘The Transmission’ when the album was announced last month.
