gyrofield announces FABRICLIVE release, ‘Akin / Mother’
gyrofield is stepping up for a record on FABRICLIVE.
‘Akin / Mother’ is the latest release from the club’s revamped artist-focussed label, which is named after its hallowed Friday parties and launched as part of the London venue’s 25th anniversary celebrations last year.
Out on 2nd May, the two-track 12″ from the Hong Kong-born, Netherlands-based producer Kiana Li is driven by their trademark breaks ‘n’ bass style but positions itself as “distinctly the sound of now”. Check out ‘Mother’ via Bandcamp below and pre-order a copy of the release here.
gyrofield made her debut on XL Recordings last August with the ‘These Heavens’ EP, featuring “four tracks of life & love & eternal space told through drum & bass / jungle”.
Li — who moved from Hong Kong to Bristol to study music in 2020 — has also put out a string of EPs for labels including Overview Music, Pilot., and Victorious. Most recently, they released ‘The B’ EP on Noisia’s VISION imprint, described as “cold music for cold people for the return of warmth & light.”
Back in 2023, they dropped the ‘Snake Charmer / Missed Call(s)’ two-tracker. Last December, they released their album ‘Flower Burial’ on Kasra’s new Best Intentions label.
