Madonna ‘Ray Of Light’ remix contest launched by Beatport
Beatport has launched a remix competition for Madonna’s landmark 1998 album, ‘Ray of Light’.
The Ray of Light Global Remix Challenge offers producers the chance to work with official stems from the William Orbit-produced album and upload their work to the Label Radar platform.
Full details of the competition can be found here. The closing date for entries is Thursday 25th September, with winners due to be announced via Beatportal on Wednesday 15th October.
The grand prize includes studio hardware and software, plus a rare signed Madonna record, worth a total of £12,000. The successful producer will also have the chance to get their single signed to a label. Second and third prizes feature a selection of cutting edge music kit.
“My appreciation for the art of remixing has been passionate since I started making music,” said Madonna. “The ability to propel boundaries and do the unexpected is something I can relate to as an artist. I look forward to hearing everyone’s interpretation — don’t hold back.”
‘Ray of Light’ won four GRAMMY Awards when it first landed, including Best Dance Recording for the iconic title track. The records went on to sell more than 16 million copies worldwide, and was originally intended to be accompanied by a club remix companion piece, ‘Veronica Electronica‘. This was finally released last month in anticipation of the competition, and features work by Orbit, Sasha, BT, Victor Colderone, and Peter Rauhofer.
