Germany’s MELT Festival confirms 2024 edition will be its last
This year’s Melt Festival in Germany will be the event’s final edition.
Organisers of the annual weekend-long event, which launched in 1997 and is one of the country’s biggest outdoor electronic music festivals, have put the decision to call time on the project down to “insurmountable changes in the festival landscape”.
Festival director Florian Czok added: “Despite our commitment and efforts in recent years, we recognise that the original Melt no longer fits into the German festival market and cannot withstand the developments of recent years without radically altering the festival concept. It’s a difficult decision, but we believe it’s time to explore new paths and create space for fresh ideas.”
The final edition of Melt is scheduled to take place from 11th-13th July. Returning to its usual open-air industrial home of Ferropolis, the festival will take in sets from the likes of Overmono, Chase & Status, Bonobo, Eris Drew, DJ Python, Honey Dijon and Marcel Dettmann.
In the UK, it was recently revealed that over 40 summer festivals have now cancelled their 2024 edition, according to new figures from the Association for Independent Festivals (AIF).
