Flying Lotus made two of Apple’s iPhone ringtones

Flying Lotus made two of Apple’s iPhone ringtones

Last week, Flying Lotus unveiled his first single in two years, ‘Garmonbozia’. Meanwhile, in May, Apple Music revealed its top 100 albums of all time, including landmarks by Kraftwerk, Daft Punk, and Burial. A month later, the audio streaming service launched its Pride Around the World mix series, with The Blessed Madonna, BADSISTA, Lakuti and Lady Shaka all involved.

Earlier this year, Apple was forced to apologise for its “tone-deaf” iPad advert, in which a number of musical instruments were shown being crushed in an industrial press. The idea was to show how much creative potential is condensed into the thinnest iPad Pro to date.

Sparking widespread criticism, actors Justine Batemen and Hugh Grant respectively described the clip as “crushing the arts”, and “the destruction of the human experience, courtesy of Silicon Valley”. Songwriter Crispin Hunt compared the destructive act to “watching books burn”.
