Bristol’s Mickey Zoggs to reopen in new space this month

Bristol music venue Mickey Zoggs is reopening at a new location next week.

The Bristol pub and community space that is home to local station Noods Radio had been closed since late last year after being evicted by the landlord of its previous home.

The new location at 182 Cheltenham Road promises more space, extended opening hours until 1am, and a wider selection of drinks, according to the team who run Mickey Zoggs. Mickey Zoggs had previously launched a fundraiser to buy its former home amid threats of eviction early last year, but a deal for the sale ultimately fell through.

It will officially open on Friday, 23rd May, with punters also able to visit the space on the Saturday and Sunday of that weekend. For the remainder of May after that, it will open from Thursday until Saturday while final works are completed.

The Noods Radio studio will open at the new location in June, with broadcasts taking place from the building’s downstairs space.

Speaking about the reopening project, the Mickey Zoggs team said: “It’s been a lot of work getting the new place up and running, more than we anticipated. But thanks to the team, the contractors and the community we’ve managed to pull something together pretty special.

“We’re all super excited to be opening and sharing it with everyone, and can’t wait to see how the place takes shape and evolves over the next 20 years. Zoggs 2.0 – triple the room, triple the drinks and triple the toilets. All that plus a pool table!”
