Boomtown 2024 line-up announced with over 450 artists
Boomtown Fair has released its full lineup for 2024. Billed as Chapter 3: Revolution of Imagination, the event runs Wednesday 7th – Sunday 11th August at the Matterley Bowl, Winchester, with more than 450 artists confirmed.
Headline acts include hip-hop legends The Pharcyde, US live electronic improviser Mark Rebillet, and Afro-funk-disco group Ibibio Sound Machine. In addition, Multi-GRAMMY award-winning artist Al McKay presents his Earth, Wind & Fire Experience.
Ezra Collective, Sleaford Mods, and Viagra Boys are among the other bands involved. A special 30th anniversary show has been confirmed from rock-rap-ragga-electronic pioneers Asian Dub Foundation.
Homegrown hip-hop and grime icons Ghetts, D Double E, Sir Spyro and Children of Zeus appear elsewhere on the bill. As do DJ sets from Pendulum, SHERELLE, High Contrast, Skream & Benga, SBTRKT, SHOSH, Hixxy, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Critical Soundsystem with MC GQ, I. JORDAN, Kettama, Eris Drew b2b Octo Octa, Emerald, and Calibre featuring SP:MC.
Ross From Friends is due to play under his Brainfeeder-signed alias, Bubble Love. And DJ Rap is down to deliver an acid house set with Ray Keith, whose Dread Recordings marks 30 years with a Sunday takeover featuring Fabio & Grooverider, Kenny Ken b2b DJ SS, and Ray Keith b2b Critical Impact b2b2 T>I b2b Bladerunner, to name but a few.
Meanwhile, South London hi fi institution Jungle Cakes presents Ed Solo b2b Deekline b2b Benny Page b2b Serial Killaz with Navigator, MC Sye, Kaya Fyah, Horseman & Doktor, as part of the crew’s 10th birthday celebrations. An official app is available to download for free, aimed helping people navigate the huge list of names. Meanwhile, final tickets are currently on sale.
Last year, Boomtown gave rise to the Council of Bens, an impromptu gathering of attendees named Ben which has since developed into a 3,000-strong online community. Over the past year, the network has funded a number of events and raffles in aid of charities such as mental health organisation Mind, and Sheffield substance abuse support space, Ben’s Centre.
