BICEP share new single, ‘CHROMA 009 KR36’, under DOVE alias
Bicep are bringing back their DOVE alias for their latest CHROMA single with Kehina. Listen to ‘CHROMA 009 KR36’ below.
Originally launched in 2024 with the third CHROMA single ‘CHROMA 003 Bi83‘, the DOVE project is Belfast duo Andrew Ferguson and Matthew McBriar’s outlet for “experimental, rave-leaning” sounds. The new singles features vocals from London-based artist Kehina, whose last releases were the 2022 single ‘Would You‘ and EP ‘I Wish You Were Here‘.
“It’s a dizzying, trance-like track that weirdly reminds me of a lot of the music my mum used to play when I was a kid, particularly North African Gnawa music — that same hypnotic rhythm, that trance you fall into while dancing”, Kehina said in a press statement. “I recorded and wrote this a month or two after vocal surgery. It really helped pull me out of my head and reminded me why I love making music in the first place. It helped me imagine a future in something I’d had to step back from for a while.”
As part of the CHROMA series, BICEP have also ‘CHROMA 004 ROLA‘ and ‘CHROMA 008 TANGZ‘ with Eliza, in addition to the first DOVE single. Find the complete CHROMA discography on Bandcamp.
Last summer, Matthew McBriar announced he had a rare non-cancerous brain tumour and was recovering from removal surgery.
