A new 300-capacity club, Carpe Noctem, is opening in Cardiff
News
Cardiff is getting a new electronic music-focused club, Carpe Noctem.
Based on Charles Street in the city centre, the venue will take over the space previously occupied by cabaret club Minsky’s Showbar, which closed in March 2020 as the UK went into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Carpe Noctem will run with a capacity of 300 people, and has a license for events to go until 4am.
In a statement, the team behind the venue said: “Carpe Noctem means ‘seize the night,’ which is fitting for the hospitality sector as we all emerge from lockdown. The club has undergone some major renovations since closing in 2020, with large bespoke murals and artwork from local artists adorning the walls, an upgraded soundsystem and a cocktail bar spanning over 12 metres. Our aim as a nightclub is to take people back to the origins and essence of dance music, influenced by where it has come from and where it is going in the future.”
The club will open in late February, and information on its first events is yet to be revealed.
