Clusion – Cold Again

Hailing from Los Angeles, Clusion specialises in deep drum & bass with a bittersweet jazz air. His latest release lands on Toulouse label Five Alley, and takes cues from the likes of Calibre or Lenzman in its incorporation of minor key piano licks, sampling and crisp snare hits. ‘Blue Shade’ is all contemplative loops and tidy breaks, while the title cut moves to a 2-step garage shuffle. ‘Nuplex’, with its metallic dub bass, is more club-geared, but Clusion saves a surprise for the closing ‘Willow’— a gorgeous, wistful house cut. Hazy and nostalgic in the best possible way.
