Tomorrowland 2025: festival opens today, attendees await update on new stage
Tomorrowland 2025 officially starts today.
The festival’s main stage was completely destroyed in an enormous fire on Wednesday, 16th July, to days ahead of opening. After a tense 24 hours of discussions with authorities and officials, Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen confirmed in a press conference yesterday (17th) that the Belgian festival will proceed this weekend – 18th to 20th July – and next. “We’re devastated,” she said. “But we’ve received so many wonderful reactions. And we’re working hard now. We’re going to keep going, we’re going 100 percent!”
The festival will open at the later time of 2 PM today, with two scenarios currently on the cards as to how the event will work. The first scenario would see the festival site opening to everyone, with a new stage in place. If the new stage is not ready on time, then festival goers arriving today will still get access to the main site from 2pm, albeit with 15 stages rather than 16. In that scenario, visitors staying at the DreamVille campsite – which welcomed 38,000 attendees yesterday – will not be allowed onto the festival site, but will get to see the acts who were intended for Friday’s main stage.
An announcement is expected imminently.
The cause of the blaze, which broke out around 5pm (CEST) on Wednesday, remains unknown and is currently under investigation. Around 1,000 staff and crew members were on site at the time. All were evacuated to safety and no injuries were reported. We will continue to report on all Tomorrowland updates in our live blog.
