’90s Dutch house music celebrated on new compilation

Dutch house music from the ’90s is to be the focus of a new 2×12-inch compilation, ‘The Hidden Beauty Of Dutch House (’94-’98)’.

Set for release on 15th March, it’s the inaugural record on new label Anacalypto Records, which, much like the compilation, will aim to spotlight Dutch producers of the ’90s whose output went largely unappreciated originally.

‘The Hidden Beauty Of Dutch House (’94-’98)’ features eight tracks, with credits for max 404, Maas & Leest, and the trio Misty Movement, among others. In addition to colourful house sounds, it also looks to breaks and more atmospheric deep house across the tracklisting.

The compilation was pieced together after a “nationwide search for lost Digital Audio Tapes (DATs)” as well as for “dusty home-studio recordings”, says a press release. It’s available to pre-order now on Bandcamp, where you can find the full tracklist.

Last year, a two-part compilation from the label Above Board gathered a number of rare ’90s UK electronic music cuts, and London DJ and producer Richard Sen curated a collection of ’90s UK house, techno and breakbeat deep cuts.

Elsewhere, the ‘Who Say Reload’ compilation collected ‘90s jungle and drum & bass classics and rarities, while ’90s and early ’00s UK breaks and electro tracks were gathered on another compilation, ‘Tactical Shifts’.
