Hundreds gather in Las Vegas desert for multiple stage rave, ignoring COVID-19 guidelines
News
Hundreds of people gathered in the Las Vegas desert for an illegal, multiple stage rave at the weekend.
The rave, run by mystery promoters “Malum Geminos”, took place on 4TH July, and boasted a “multi-stage event” in flyers circulating on social media. Despite the event being illegal, and local governers urging residents of Nevada to continue practicing social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic, tickets were available to purchase online for the event, which was dubbed The Final Fuse.
Local news outlet KSNV News 3 attended the event site on Independence day, where they captured footage of hundreds of revellers gathered in the desert. The news station showed the footage to Dr. Christina Madison, a local public health expert and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice with Roseman University of Health Sciences, who said the party was “a super-spreader event just waiting to happen.”
“Please, please, take responsibility for yourself,” Dr. Madison said. “Do not spread this to others. Do not fill up our ERs. And Our ICUs. And get people to the point where they have to require a ventilator. Please, I’m begging you.”
You can see the footage of the event from KSNV News 3 below.
Here’s some cell phone video I took when my photographer and I investigated a tip about a secret desert rave happening on the Fourth of July. We arrived to see hundreds dancing as we kept a safe distance. More tonight 10,11 pic.twitter.com/DUchBxHmjm
