T.H.E – Hello Novem Vivit! How are you doing?

Novem Vivit – Hello! I’m doing great, and I’m really excited to be here for this interview. Thank you for having me.

T.H.E – Can you share with us a bit about your background and how your journey into music, and Electronic music, particularly in the Techno genre, began?

Novem Vivit – My journey into Electronic music, especially Techno, began in my hometown Frankfurt am Main (Germany), where I was exposed to the vibrant Techno culture from a young age. I watched Love Parade on TV every year, and that’s when my fascination with Techno started. When I moved to New York around 2005 and visited Pacha NYC several years later, I made the life-changing decision to become a part of the music scene. I embarked on my journey with a small DJ controller and self-taught the art of DJing…

T.H.E – You’ve been in New York for over a decade now, how has the New York music scene shaped your unique style and musical journey?

Novem Vivit – New York has been a crucial part of my journey. The diverse music scene there exposed me to a wide range of influences, allowing me to develop a unique style. In fact, I started with Electro House music first as DJ Renaissance and eventually worked my way into the dark side of Techno. The city’s energy and culture have certainly shaped my music, and I’m grateful for the experiences I’ve had there. Now that I am residing in Miami Florida, my style has shifted in many directions which lead me to work on many other genres such as, Tech-House, Melodic House, Afro House and more.

T.H.E – As a versatile producer in the Techno genre, what do you believe sets your music apart from others in the field?

Novem Vivit – What sets my music apart is a blend of my German Techno roots and the influences I’ve absorbed in New York and Miami. My productions aim to create a captivating and immersive experience for listeners. I incorporate diverse elements, and I’m constantly experimenting with new sounds and techniques to keep my music fresh and distinctive. When I reach a genre fatigue, I tend to switch things up, and learn new things (genres) which sometimes helps me, when jumping back to Techno.

T.H.E – Could you share a memorable moment or milestone in your career that has had a significant impact on your artistic development?

Novem Vivit – One of the most memorable moments in my career was when I played to a packed crowd during Halloween for Pacha NYC Mainstage. Out of the blue, I got a call from the promoter, asking me to open up for Afrojack and other artists. I had only few hours to get a set ready for a Mainstage opening act. It was nerve racking for sure but totally worth it. This defining moment is what made me realize my passion for performing and connecting with the audience. That experience ignited my dedication to pursuing a career in music.

T.H.E – You’ve received recognition from well-known artists such as Umek, Mark Reeve, and Metodi Hristov. How does it feel to have your work acknowledged by these established figures in the industry?

Novem Vivit – It’s truly an honor to have my work acknowledged by such respected artists. Their recognition validates the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my music. It’s not only motivating but also humbling to know that I’m making an impact in a genre I love. I specially thank Metodi Hristov for first accepting my music and reaching top 11 on the Beatport charts, when I returned to heavily produce after a long break. And another special thank you for Umek who has been giving me so much great advice and support ever since. Umek is an idol of mine for many, many years and I actually had the opportunity to meet him. I cannot express the kindness and musical skills this man has. I will forever be grateful for him.

T.H.E – Tell us about your label, Viventem. What inspired you to start your own label, and what can we expect from it in the future?

Novem Vivit – Viventem is a project close to my heart. I started it with the vision of supporting emerging Techno artists and promoting the genre I’m passionate about. In the future, you can expect a variety of releases that embody the essence of Techno. We’re always on the lookout for fresh talent to bring exciting new music to the scene. Viventem has made it to top 10 Beatport charts a few times, and I am absolutely grateful for that.

T.H.E – How do you approach the creative process when producing music? Are there specific techniques or sources of inspiration that guide your work?

Novem Vivit – My creative process often starts with finding inspiration in everyday life, whether it’s the energy of the city, nature, or even personal experiences. I’m always experimenting with production techniques and love to create a unique sonic journey in my tracks. It’s a constant exploration and evolution. Most inspirations happen when I attend to events and listen to artists and their styles. I like to challenge myself and say, I can do that too.

T.H.E – Techno is known for its immersive and intense live performances. Can you describe your approach to DJing and performing live for your audience?

Novem Vivit – My approach to DJing is all about connecting with the audience. I curate my sets to create a unique atmosphere and energy that’s both immersive and intense. My goal is to take the audience on a journey and make them part of the music, creating a memorable experience. It’s important to read the crowd and always be ready for any case scenario, therefore due to my versatile genre productions, I am always ready to switch things up. I guess my live performances are always a surprise, never know what you are going to get but for sure I will do my best to give you one powerful and versatile set.

T.H.E – Your journey has taken you across the globe; are there particular cities or venues that hold special significance for you as a performer or artist?
