T.H.E Interview – Fx Logik

T.H.E Interview – Fx Logik

An influential figure in the genre of speed garage, Fx Logik makes a triumphant return to the heart of speed garage with a transformative musical voyage – ‘Back To You’.

Marked by a powerful & evocative theme at the core, with soul-stirring vocals woven into the realms of UK Garage & Bassline House. We caught up with Fx Logik to discuss his latest release, the remix collaboration with Huxley and more!

T.H.E – Fx Logik, happy new year & welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials, how’s 2024 begun for you?

Fx Logik – Yo! Thanks, likewise! I am so stoked for 2024! On a personal note, tail end of ‘23 my wife battled and beat cancer – so that was a major win and we couldn’t feel more blessed! Some shows got nixed for her surgery, but all ‘n’ all fate ultimately led to a killer winter Vegas show with MPH. My jam ‘Back To You’ feels like the soundtrack to the craziness I’ve been through, but I’m just riding the waves of life’s twists the best I can just like anyone else. Shout out to my wife DJ Madam Filth, a DNB queen who is stronger than ever!

T.H.E – Speaking about your new single ‘Back To You’, a great sound on the record & when did you start the production process?

Fx Logik – Thanks! Yea, ‘Back To You’ started cooking about a mid-late 2022 actually, and the original plan was to launch my label with this track, but speaking about life throwing out unexpected twists, Huxley wanted to remix it for Dumb Safari, and I was all in! Working with him and his team has been nothing short of an epic experience. His remix is pure fire, and the vibe is unreal!

T.H.E – Encompassing elements of both UK Garage & Bassline, how did you end up signing the record to Dumb Safari?

Fx Logik – Dude Huxley and I go way back to the early 2000’s when he was rocking as Dezz Jones on the 4×4 Bassline tip and we were both interns in the music industry. I actually released one of his tunes back then, and so signing “Back To You” to Dumb Safari felt like a sweet reciprocal move after all these years. It’s an honor to work with such a solid good bro like that. Connection is unmatched!

T.H.E – How would you describe your sound to our readers?

Fx Logik – Dark warped bouncy basslines, tight funkadelic shuffled percussion sounds carried by a boomalicious heavy four on the floor kick, with a hint of nostalgic retro lo-fi samples. I try to use soulful catchy female vocals whenever I can, and you’ll notice melodic trance-like pads and stabs in a lot of my breakdowns. Above all, I like to focus on the groove. Think that about sums it up!

T.H.E – With Huxley already remixing the single, any plans for additional mixes to follow?

Fx Logik – I haven’t really thought about that. So, not at the moment. I think I want to let this one live on how it is for now.

T.H.E – Looking further into the year ahead, do you have other releases already in planning?

Fx Logik – Oh my goodness yes. I am so pumped for what’s to come! I am working with some people this year that I would have never dreamed would actually happen! I can’t say yet who, but so far the outlook for 2024 has me giddy!
