UKG pioneers Tuff Jam release full back-catalogue on streaming platforms for the first time: Listen

UK garage pioneers Tuff Jam have released their back-catalogue to streaming platforms for the first time.

People can now listen to classic tracks by the duo, such as ‘Experience’, ‘Tumblin’ Down’ and ‘History Of House Music’, in full master quality via the streaming service of their choice, with much of the material previously only available to listen to via original vinyl copies or low-quality YouTube uploads.

In a statement, one-half of the duo, Matt “Jam” Lamont, said: “It’s been 24 years since our last Tuff Jam release so I’m very excited that our back-catalogue will finally be available on all streaming platforms for our supporters old and new to enjoy. Also very happy it’s being re-released with major label BMG who we feel mirrors our vision with this project.”

The other half of the duo, Karl “Tuff Enuff” Brown, added: “The first ever digital release of the Tuff Jam productions catalogue is an exciting opportunity, and it’s great to be working with the team at BMG to make this happen in 2024. It’s also quite surreal to think it’s been over 20 years since the first Tuff Jam collaboration!”

Both respected producers in their own right within the UK garage scene, Tuff Jam rose to prominence as a duo through the ’90s with a series of their own releases, as well as remixes for others. They first came together on record in 1993, and built up a following that saw them frequently dubbed as the Godfathers of UK garage.

As well as hosting a radio show with London’s Kiss 100 from 1997 through to 2000, the duo released their music through their own Unda-Vybe label and remixed the likes of Usher, En Vogue, CeCe Peniston, Tina Moore, Soul II Soul and Boyz II Men, among others.

You can listen to their back-catalogue by heading to the Tuff Jam page on the streaming platform of your choice.
