UK cassette tape sales doubled during 2020, the British Phonographic Industry has revealed.

While cassette sales have steadily increased in the UK over the past few years, 2020’s final sales figures amounted to double those reported at the end of 2019, with 156,542 cassettes sold in the UK over the 12-month period of 2020. Albums from Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue and The Streets featured among the year’s 10 best-selling cassette albums in the UK.

Vinyl also enjoyed a continued revival in 2020, hitting a three-decade high in sales in the UK.
