The Blessed Madonna shares Kylie Minogue collaboration, ‘Edge of Saturday Night ‘: Listen

The Blessed Madonna has shared a collaboration with Kylie Minogue titled ‘Edge of Saturday Night’. You can listen to it below.

Taken from The Blessed Madonna’s forthcoming album, ‘Godspeed‘, work on the new track began in March 2020, just before Covid-19 lockdowns were announced. Inspired by a DJ set in Berlin, over the course of four years the single has slowly taken form.

“This story is about edges. When I was given the opportunity to begin an album, we were on the edge of lockdown. When I sat down to write lyrics for the very first time, I was on the edge of a brand new life,” The Blessed Madonna said in a press statement about the new track. “When I programmed and wrote the music that would become this song, I was on the edge of the next big leap into producing. When I made the friends, who became the lifeblood of this record, I was on the edge of a world of love and creativity that I barely hoped to dream of.

“It was a morning that magically turned into night,” she continued, discussing the inspiration behind the music. “It was a dawn when instead of the party ending, we shut the blinds and began again. It might have been a beautiful February Monday, but in a very special room in Berlin, we found ourselves again on the edge of a Saturday night. But that’s just where the story begins.”

Having worked together remotely on the project, The Blessed Madonna and Minogue reportedly met for the very first time in Ibiza during the former’s late-July DJ set for CircoLoco at DC-10. A video for the new single will drop next Friday 23rd August, and was also filmed on the island, at the legendary Pikes Hotel. The iconic venue was famously used as the location in the video for Wham!’s 1983 pop hit, ‘Club Tropicana’. 

“Almost 30 years after my first stay at Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, it was a total joy to revisit this iconic destination,” added Kylie. “I loved sharing this unforgettable moment with The Blessed Madonna and am so happy the excitement and energy of this hot August club adventure was captured in the video for ‘Edge Of Saturday Night’. I was so delighted to be asked by Marea to be part of this track and can’t wait for fans to hear it.”

Last year, Kylie collaborated with Oliver Heldens on a single called ‘10 Out Of 10’. IN 2021, she also released an expanded version of her 2020 album ‘DISCO’. Titled ‘DISCO: Guest List Edition’, it included a second disc of remixes and alternate versions of tracks from the album, including a remix by Basement Jaxx and a Studio 2054 remix which features Dua Lipa.
