US dubstep star Sonny Moore is following up last week’s emailed snippet ‘Bibi’s Tower‘ with the highly anticipated dubstep demo. Quickly identifying the new cut as ‘Scut’, fans have been sharing their surprise that the favourite from Skrillex’s recent EDC Thailand set was slipped out over the OWSLA mailing list he began promoting last month. ‘Scut’ samples the 2021 viral video “This mf just cut the sky!!“.

“Good Monday from my mixing room in Los Angeles”, Skrillex wrote in the minimal email, titled “Mix test”, along with a link to the track. “Hope you are keeping well :)” 

This continues Skrillex’s shift towards more direct communication with fans as his relationship with Atlantic Records will end after his next and “final” project for the label. In a thread on X last November, Skrillex shared excitement about releasing music as an “independent” artist following his last Atlantic release.

Coming up, Skrillex is teasing his performance at Ultra Miami 2025. In December 2024, he released the ‘Heavy Heart‘ single with Loco Dice and Fireboy DML.
