Sampa the Great shares video for ‘Let Me Be Great’ featuring Angélique Kidjo: Watch

Sampa the Great has shared a video for her ‘Let Me Be Great’ single, which features Beninese icon Angélique Kidjo.

Directed by Pussy Krew, the arresting, Afro-futurist visual is set in an animated CGI world and sees the Zambia-born Botswana-raised poet and rapper surrounded by silvery serpentine structures and  twisting tendrils with vocals from Kidjo. Watch the video below.

‘Let Me Be Great’ is taken from Sampa the Great’s acclaimed sophomore album, ‘As Above, So Below,’ which was released last month via Loma Vista Recordings and also features contributions from Denzel Curry, Kojey Radical, and Joey Bada$$. The LP is the follow-up to 2019’s ARIA Award and Australian Music Prize-winning debut album, ‘The Return’.

Released in August, the album’s third single ‘Bona’ was produced by Zambian artist Mag44, with co-production from Sampa herself, and nods to kwaito and amapiano music.
