Richie Hawtin announces Plastikman album with Chilly Gonzales

Richie Hawtin has announced a Plastikman album with Grammy-nominated composer, pianist and vocalist Chilly Gonzales. 

‘Consumed In Key’ will land via Turbo Recordings on 1st April 2022, with label boss Tiga credited as Executive Producer. The record is made up of work from the landmark 1998 Plastikman LP, ‘Consumed’, re-imagined by the two artists. A lead single, ‘Contain’, has already been unveiled. Check it out below.

The project began to take form when Gonzales heard the original ‘Consumed’ for the first time, around the release’s 20th anniversary. Interested by the loose use of melody, unique time structure and flow, the musician set about creating piano-led counterparts to the tracks. Demos were sent to Tiga, who recommended contacting Hawtin to see if a “sonic conversation” was possible.
