Rekkord’s RCM is a “high-performance” vinyl cleaning machine
Rekkord have launched a new “high-performance” vinyl cleaning machine, the RCM.
The Rekkord RCM is powered by a vacuum motor that works like a suction tool and promises to clean records in two rotations, with the platter rotating at 30 RPM. It uses an eco-friendly, non-alcoholic cleaning fluid while the aluminium surface, mounted by a heavy puck, is able to “withstand excessive fluid spill without compromising the chassis”.
The Rekkord RCM vinyl cleaning machine is priced at €699. For more info or to pick one up, visit the Rekkord Audio site.
Elsewhere in the world of vinyl, researchers at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) recently cut what they say is the world’s smallest record, a recording of festive favourite ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’, which is so miniscule it could fit within one single groove of a regular vinyl record.
Last December, it was reported that vinyl sales in 2022 outstripped CDs in the UK for the first time in 35 years. A year on from hitting a 30-year high, UK record sales hit £116.8 million in 2022, next to CD sales of £98.3 million — almost 16% more. It’s the first time record sales have exceeded those of CD sales in the UK since 1988.
