Quantic announces !K7 DJ-Kicks mix, shares ‘Eko Eko’: Listen
Quantic has been tapped for the latest edition in the !K7 DJ-Kicks mix series.
To celebrate the announcement, the DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist has shared one of the tracks, ‘Eko Eko’, ahead of the mix’s full release on 30th May.
A first in DJ-Kicks history, the new mix consists entirely of exclusive, original productions sourced by Quantic, aka Will Holland, from his tight-knit community of friends and collaborators.
The 16-track mix ties together Holland’s expansive career, from the late ‘90s to the present day, drawing from his travels around the world and the broad spread of sounds and cultures that have inspired him along the way, from cumbia and jazz to soul, hip-hop, and house.
Speaking on the process of compiling the mix, Quantic shares, “It’s not like writing an album; you’re at the mercy of what other people are creating.” He continues, “Fortunately, the homies’ submissions were of an extremely high calibre!”
“It’s got a moody start and end, but a big portion is uplifting and joyous,” he explains. “This mix encapsulates what I’ve been up to as a DJ over the last few decades, while shining a light on people I admire.”
Quantic’s DJ-Kicks mix arrives on 30th May 2025 via !K7 Records on vinyl and digital.
To celebrate the release, Quantic will be hosting a launch party at Phonox on 30th May with support from Maghreban.
Last week, it was announced that !K7 Records had been acquired by Create Music Group, two months after the passing of label founder Horst Weidenmüller.
The legendary label has released music by the likes of Kerri Chandler, DJ Tennis, CCL, SUCHI, Ciel and Michael Mayer, among many, many others, and also oversees the long-running ‘DJ-Kicks’ mix series, with recent contributions coming from the likes of HAAi, Honey Dijon, DJ Boring and Logic1000 .
