Premiere: May Lavie ‘The Poem (Medicine 8 Remix)’

Human Endeavour is launching a new remix series, Dancefloor Designs, with remixes from Medicine 8 and Thomass Jackson. Have an exclusive first listen to Medicine 8’s remix of May Lavie’s ‘The Poem’ below.

The British electronic duo kick off the series with their first new music since 2016. Deploying their signature machine-led approach, the pair transform May Lavie’s 2023 hit into a giddy acid freakout, loaded with chunky beats, earwormy leads and raw industrial energy. The release – out this Friday (18th April) – is the latest addition to the pair’s storied remix catalogue which features the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Orbital, X‑press 2, Kylie Minogue and more.

“We love this track and this label,” the duo told DJ Mag. “Medicine 8 stirred into action after much time… fabulous.”

Founded by brothers Liam and Luke May almost 30 years ago, the Medicine 8 project saw the pair release a healthy string of records through the ’90s and ’00s, including their acclaimed 2002 debut album ‘Iron Stylings’. These days, as well as running South London label Trashmouth Records, Medicine 8 form half of acid house collective Decius, alongside Paranoid London’s Johnny Aux and Lias from Fat White Family.

Dancefloor Designs is Human Endeavour’s brand new remix series that reworks previous catalogue material for the club. The Human Endeavour imprint is part of Ransom Note Records’ family of sub-labels, curated and run by Kiara Scuro’s Rosie Ama Cain, and described as a “space for artists who are exploring the dark, deep and hypnotic corners of the musical spectrum.”

‘Dancefloor Designs 001’ is out 18th April on Human Endeavour. Pre-save Medicine 8’s remix here, and have an exclusive first listen below.
